Meet The Muralists For the Hub City Heights Gateway Mural
We are excited to announce Nia Simone was selected as our lead muralist by the people of Compton through a community survey! With assistance from Anthony Lee Pittman, they will bring beauty to Hub City Heights, a new permanent supportive housing complex in the East Compton community.
Nia Lane is a visual artist and educator from Compton, California, whose paintings and drawings center on healing, identity, and community. A third-generation Compton native, Lane returned to Los Angeles after her formative years in the Midwest and now practices in Inglewood. She teaches TK–8th grade art through Teach For America while pursuing her master’s at Loyola Marymount University. For Lane, art has always been a form of resilience and storytelling, a way to nurture self-expression and honor the spirit of the communities that raised her.
Anthony Lee Pittman is an Afro-Latino artist and muralist from Compton, CA. His craft flourished at Compton High School under the mentorship of Cleveland Palmer in the AP Art program. By his senior year, Anthony’s talent was already recognized, with gallery exhibitions across Los Angeles and commissions from prominent clients, including the late Jenni Rivera.
