Practicing stillness
Practicing stillness can be shown through movement. Movement occurs in stillness. The bodily systems are circuits within that connect to circles outside. A practice that involves moving the body in circular ways connects inside and outside circles. When we view ourselves as actually being inside and outside circles, instead of "us" as a static ego-entity, then life is flowing more like water. When life is flowing like water we move from situation to situation without preconceived notions. Does water think about where its going next?
Without a consciousness of the past or the future we are free to move. Freedom of movement can alleviate illness and possibly reverse disease. Hard and solid is dead, soft and flexible is alive. If we boiled down our movements in our own house to lines, we'd just use tiny little pathways. Think about it, we're predictable in cosmically humorous ways. What about introducing a new route? The ability to laugh at this is getting close to the issue.
If we are too inside, outside is the antidote and vice versa. Western Culture is mostly defined by the outside, so it is a long journey to return home, forgetting what we know and abandoning our "knowledge" in favor of simplicity and returning to ourselves. If any of this inspires or provokes a debate orientation, true or false, then its best to start looking right at that.
If we're in a box of consciousness, its nearly impossible to see that. What if we abandoned all hope of knowing smart, intelligent factoids and just looked at how little we know. The mystery of the great mystery, is what propels us forward into new embarrassing situations. What if we stopped acting...and allowed? What if we stopped allowing, and acted? It depends on the context or the flavor of the moment.
